Applied Yogic Anatomy

Applied yogic anatomy is an important component of understanding and practicing yoga postures. Learning anatomy builds one's body awareness, deepens one's understanding of how his/her body operates and prevents injury. This anatomy weekend includes five components including the lower extremity, pelvic girdle and hip, spine, thoracic cage and breathing and upper extremity. Each session includes a lecture w/ a movement and palpation lab to follow.

Modules:
Friday - 5:30-8:30pm - Lower Extremity
Saturday - 10:30a-1:30pm - Pelvis Girdle and Hip
Saturday - 2:30-5:30p - Spine
Sunday 8-11am - The Skull and Thoracic Cage/Breathing
Sunda 12-3pm - Upper Extremity

Yoga and the Five Elements

Yoga is a practice that involves movement, breathing, meditation and living in conjunction with the seasons. In this weekend immersion, we will explore the five elements as seen through the lens of Chinese medicine and their relationship to the principles of classical yoga. Each session will include lecture on lifestyle ideas, movement/asana, breathwork, and concentration/meditation practices, focused on a particular element.
